Founded in 2022 by Sophia Morris-Pittman, PATHOS Creative is a multi-dimensional entity that produces and curates performances, exhibits and events with an array of artistic disciplines (visual arts, music, dance, etc.).
We engage the collaborative voices of artists, educators and thought leaders in project based opportunities, to garner unique perspectives, styles and outcomes to have further reach and impact.
We also conduct project based arts education workshops (K-12 & higher education), lectures, as well as professional development for educators and professionals; programs are delivered online and in person.
Join us on our journey to celebrate our complexity and the diversity of our shared humanity.

PATHOS Dance Theatre
“pathos: the use of emotional appeals to alter the audiences judgment. This can be done through metaphor, amplification, storytelling, or presenting the topic in a way that evokes strong emotions in the audience...”
In 2003 Sophia Morris-Pittman founded the PATHOS Dance Theatre; a multicultural, intergenerational, multi-abled and inter-disciplinary company that focused on giving traditional, emerging, and non- mainstreamed creatives opportunities to perform and collaborate. In 2004, the company had a highly successful debut at the historical Town Hall Theatre in Middlebury Vermont, with a talented, unusual and inspiring cast of visual artists, dancers, actors, singers; this included an octogenarian dancer and a deaf-mute poet. It engaged Vermont audiences by demonstrating cultural diversity, through dance, poetry, visual arts and music.
Later, the influence of PATHOS inspired new programming. In 2008, for RETN (Regional Educational Technology Network) of Burlington, Vermont, Sophia conceptualized and launched an original mini documentary series called The Artist that showcased a broad array of Vermont artists.
However, momentous life events such as personal loss, illness and cancer caused PATHOS Dance Theatre to be shelved.
